The fresh beat band cast has been changed for the newest season. Currently, that would be season 3. This page will cover information about the current members, the new members and even an old member.
For those of you who are new to the fresh beat band, just a little background first.
The Fresh Beat Band is a fairly new TV show on nick jr. The show is about a group of 4 teenagers who are named Marina, Twist, Kiki and Shout. They make up the main fresh beat band cast. There are other minor recurring characters who the band encounter during their adventures, but the 4 main characters are who the show is based around.
The four main cast members go to music school, do a lot of singing and dancing and also form a band that play music together. They call themselves, The Fresh Beat band.
The show follows the adventures of the group. Sometimes they encounter problems or situations that become a challenge and the 4 cast members spend the episode figuring out solutions while singing and dancing their way through the episode.
The music is very catchy to children (and adults too) and the songs are not exclusive to just 1 episodes. The songs are repeated in many episode which seems to make it easier for kids to learn the songs. At least it works that way in my house.

Jon Beavers – Twist
Born in 1981, Beavers main interest is in writing Hip-Hop music, and he is the DJ of the group.
He is also the comic of the cast and provides some zany gags on the show and comes up with crazy ideas to solve problems. He usually starts out telling the others his ideas by saying…”wouldn’t it be cool if….” and then completes some crazy idea.
Beavers likes the fact the series teaches kids about music and dance. He was quoted as saying “The show’s not about being rock stars. It’s not about being famous musicians. It’s about everyone playing music, or can and should be able to. Music can be a part of your life and should be a part of your life.”
Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer – Kiki
She was born in 1986 (on a personal note, her birthday is Oct. 22 – the same as my mothers). On the show, she is the guitar player of the band.
She was singing from a very early age and received her first violin lesson when she was 3 years old. Obviously she was always very musical.
She has had roles in plays and tv shows, including a role in the national tour of broadway’s “In the heights”
Thomas Hobson – Shout
The piano player of the band.
He has appeared on numerous tv shows including “The Hogan Family”, “Star Trek – Deep Space Nine”, and “A Different World”
He began acting at age 6, but it is difficult to find the year he was born. He graduated from Yale University in 2004
Tara Perry – Marina
She plays the current drummer of the band. She is an actress who does improv as well.. She was born in 1985 in Arkansas
She has a comedy background as well. She’s also up to date on tech stuff, appearing on mania.com to review movies. How’s that for diverse talent?
When the fresh beat band cast changed at the beginning of the third season, and a new Marina suddenly appeared, there was no explanation written into the show to explain this change. This provided a huge controversy and chatter online that has brought out very vocal opinions about handling a cast change.
Original Cast Member
Shayna Rose – Marina
She played the original drummer of the band. She is an actress with a singing background. She was born in 1983
She got her professional start when she was only 8 years old. You may have seen her in TV shows such as Gilmore Girls or Ugly Betty. She started getting noticed for her musical ability early on as well.
She gained notoriety by being cast on the tv soap opera Days of our Lives in 2006, and finally became part of the Fresh Beat Band. She left the show after season 2 to marry and pursue other roles.
Although in real life the members of the cast are well in their 20′s, they all portray teenagers on the show.
The change of Marina was actually not the first time the cast was changed. A minor character called Reed was played by one actor in season 1 and a new actor was cast for the role in season 2.
The 4 cast members have become so popular as a musical group that there are plans to have the fresh beat band tour and do concerts sometime late in 2011 or 2012.Nothing is yet confirmed about this, but it has been greatly hinted by “Shout” and “Marina” that it will be announced soon.
Each child seems to identify with 1 of the characters. In your house, who is the most popular fresh beat band cast member?

I like the new marina personally better then the original. Thankfully my toddler doesn’t notice the twitch up.

I have two daughters, one is four and the other is two. They have a Fresh Beat dance party everyday in front of the TV and whenever there is company over. We have to put on the CD and the performance is on… Lol : ) Trying to catch a concert in August.
Although the old Marina was good, I think the new one is better. My kids (4 and 1) don’t care about the change. As soon as they hear the intro, they’re glued and you cannot talk to them. My 4-year-old notices the differences in both Marinas but doesn’t really make a big deal out of it.
I personally like the old marina alot better than the new one, the old one was more soulful and her voice fit with kiki’s this new one just seems out of place and off key to me, of course my daughter doesn’t notice the difference it’s all about the music and dancing to her.
U guys are wonderful but me and my daughter noticed right away and she couldn’t stop crying and everytime the show is on she always asks “mommy when is marina coming back” wishing u guys can get her back.also been talking too some of my friends and they says the same thing . We loved the old one. But hopefully the new one will grow on us….
Thomas Hobson was born June 8, 1984. I was looking up facts about the cast for my daughter and found out his birthday then found your webpage. Just thought I would share so you could update your page
